Ipswich Defeat Dementia Walk

General Information and Terms & Conditions

Thank you for showing interest in our event. The Ipswich Defeat Dementia Walk 2022 aims to raise vital funds for Alzheimer’s disease and dementia. This event is supported by the charity Alzheimer’s Research UK and run by local volunteers who have a keen interest in raising local awareness of this condition.

Fundraising Guidelines – expectations
The Events Team has set a fundraising guideline “per person” for the 2022 event. Unfortunately, we’ve found in previous year’s that walkers have arrived on event day having raised zero funds for the charity. Considering the costs incurred in running the event, this actually incurs a financial loss for us and the charity. Following the funds raised at the previous events, a guideline amount of £200 has been set and is easily achievable.

About the walk
The event offers a 10mile distance which will be undulating. A reasonable amount of general fitness and good health is required to participate. A full route map with spectator zones, toilet stops and walk features will be communicated in September.

What’s next?
You will receive a confirmation of your entry from the Events Team. On this confirmation, we will provide instructions on opening your fundraising page for Alzheimer’s Research UK. Important note: The Ipswich Defeat Dementia Walk is raising money for Alzheimer’s Research UK (NOT the Alzheimer’s Society) – please await the link to the JustGiving Event page before starting to fund-raise as this will direct you to the correct page and charity.

Press & PR
We are investing in a series of local marketing and PR exercises to promote the event, the charity and the walkers - look out for us in local press! Please also feel free to keep us posted on fund-raising progress on our Facebook page. A range of merchandise will be available from Alzheimer’s Research UK on the day at the Start Line.
